Chapter 13 Summary

The Witch is dead and the Winkies are now free from her spell. The Winkies are happy to help Dorothy and the Lion find and repair the Tin Woodman and the Scarecrow. When Dorothy and her friends are all back together, they quickly decide to return to Oz and have him grant their wishes. Just as the group is ready to leave, Dorothy discovers the Golden Cap and decides to take it with her.

Chapter 13 Analysis

Color once again helps create a vivid picture. We learn for the first time that the land of the Winkies is yellow and that the Winkies dress in yellow from head to foot. Dorothy is immediately able to see the good that has come from the Wicked Witch's death. The little girl is able to tell the Winkies they are now free.
