Chapter 6 Summary

As the friends journey through the forest, they periodically hear the growls of wild animals. Dorothy and Toto are both afraid of these sounds. Suddenly, a large Lion jumps into the path in front of them with a loud roar. The Lion swipes at the Scarecrow and sends him flying. With a second swipe, he knocks the Tin Woodman down. Dorothy and Toto stand to face the beast.

Toto barks at the Lion who comes after him next. When the Lion tries to bite Toto, Dorothy rushes forward and slaps the beast on the nose. She calls him a coward for attacking little dogs, scarecrows and men made of tin. To her surprise, the Lion retreats and admits that yes, he is indeed a coward.

After Dorothy rights the Tin Woodman and gets the Scarecrow.....
