Roland Deschain

Roland is a gunslinger from a world different from this one. Roland was trained as a young man, taught to fight with his heart rather than his gun, to believe in ka, and to trust in those around him. Roland is on a quest to find the Dark Tower, a mystical place that is supposed to be the center of all universes. Roland is quite old and has been traveling a long time. Roland once was the member of a ka-tet, a group of like-minded individuals traveling on the same quest together. However, all members of Roland's ka-tet have died, leaving him alone. Through the first four novels, Roland has found three new companions who have become a part of his new ka-tet.
