Chapters 14-16 Summary

In chapter 14, Eve meets with Mira to discuss the interview with Kenneth Stiles. Mira does not believe Stiles is acting when he talks about Anja Carvell, that he truly still cares for her all these years later. Mira reminds Eve that despite her talent at reading the actions of suspects, the human heart and love are sometimes difficult to understand.

Eve is surrounded by people talking about true love and giving to those one cares about, and the talk starts to worry her. It seems to her that Roarke is always giving and she is always taking. Resolving to change that, Eve returns home intent on arranging an intimate dinner for two.
