Chapters 10-13 Summary

In chapter ten the killer speaks once again briefly, wondering if the act of killing Linus Quim will be enough to fool Eve Dallas.

Dallas returns home intent on work and finds Mavis Freestone, her good friend and recording artist, dancing around the parlor, excited about her latest record. Roarke had backed Mavis and made her career possible. Mavis has planned a girl's night, frightening Dallas, who does not enjoy the poking and prodding required. The women are interrupted by the arrival of Nadine Furst, still upset about her interview with Dallas.

Mavis excuses herself and Dallas and Roarke speak with Nadine reassuring her. When Dallas informs Nadine of the sex tape that Draco had made, Nadine becomes enraged, but the anger displayed actually reinforces Dallas's opinion that Furst would not have let someone else plunge a knife into Draco's heart...
