Part 3 Summary

The next evening, Dexter arrives at Judy's house for dinner. She appears, as beautiful as ever, and announces to him that her parents will not be joining them. Dexter admits to himself that he is glad that her parents will not be joining them. The last time he saw Mr. Jones was the day he quite caddying at the club. Throughout dinner, Judy's mood seems unhappy, as if she is only going through the motions of polite small talk. After dinner, the two move outside to the porch, and Judy changes her mood. She asks Dexter to explain who he is, since she wishes to start out with the truth and not be surprised. Dexter tells her that he has worked hard and now makes quite a sum of money.
