Chapters 5-10 Summary

Davenport goes to the sheriff's office and finds out that the crime scene unit has arrived from Madison. The crime scene techs say that it might take up to two weeks to process the house and Davenport is annoyed that it will take so long.

Davenport meets the other deputies to be working with on the LaCourt case. Among them is Gene Climpt along with Russell Hinks and Dustin Bane, known collectively as Rusty and Dusty.

Father Bergen comes to the sheriff's office and is angry because the entire town is saying he killed the LaCourts. The sheriff assures Bergen that the information did not come from his office and that they have no suspects at this point.

Davenport goes to the local hardware store to interview Dick Westrom, one of the two firemen who reported seeing Father Phil on the night of the murders. Western recounts the...
