Summary

In Irene, the morning after Huck and Irene discovered the locked room in Russ’ house was Maia’s bedroom, Irene tries to remember exactly when Russ had taken the job with Croft. She remembers that Russ had gone for his interview over Valentine’s Day weekend, the weekend that Rosie claimed to have met the Pirate and gotten pregnant. Irene remembers how happy she was when Russ got his new job because their struggle for money would finally be over. She never asked how the interview went or what he had done. Irene swears to herself that she will accept Russ’ daughter. She had told Huck she wanted to meet Maia. Huck was considering it.

In Ayers, Ayers is relieved when she gets to Maia’s school on time. The two go for pizza.
