Summary

Chapter 1

Beck Turner has just returned to school after struggling for several weeks to prove his innocence in the death of a fellow student. Beck knows who committed the murder, but he cannot tell the police the truth because he learned it through magic. For this reason, Beck must play by the rules of the legal system. At the same time, Beck is embroiled in the middle of a custody fight for his unborn daughter with the same woman who had the student murdered and attempted twice to murder Summer, the girlfriend of Beck’s brother, Decker.

To try and calm his emotions, Beck goes into the woods and speaks with Sam, the yeti who is something of a go-between for the elements and the Witchlings. Sam offers both advice and comfort to Beck.
