Hollywood

Hollywood is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California. Hollywood is best known as the center of the United States’ film industry. At the beginning of the story, Sidra is living in Hollywood. She is almost 40 years old, and she is “a minor movie star” (6). She becomes disillusioned with her work and life in Hollywood, so she moves back to her hometown of Chicago.

Chicago

Chicago is the most populous city in the state of Illinois, and it is the third most populous city in the United States. It is also Sidra’s hometown. She returns to Chicago in the hopes of establishing a life of simplicity and domesticity. She aspires to potentially marry and have children. However, she becomes discouraged after her relationship with a Chicago auto mechanic named Walt fails.
