Summary

Three years later, Boq's old companion Fiyero searches for a portrait of St. Glinda in Emerald City. He suddenly runs into Elphaba, who is easy enough to identify because of her green skin. However, the woman denies knowing him, and tells him to leave her to her prayers, but he continues to insist that he knows her. Finally, she agrees to meet him in a short while. Fiyero suspects she is going to attempt to escape from him, and spots her leaving the area. He follows Elphaba through the city, then calls out to her. She again begs him to leave her alone. Nevertheless, he follows her up a decrepit staircase, where he tells her a little about his life at present. He has become wealthy, and came to Emerald City on business.
