The cabin

Franka's cabin is where she first takes Werner when she discovers him in the snow. It is located in the Black Forest Mountains of Nazi Germany. The closest village is about 10 miles away, called Freiburg. The cabin was the summer home of Franka's family before they passed away.

Munich

Franka moved to Munich to go to college and study nursing. It is here that she meets Hans Scholl and begins the White Rose organization with him, distributing leaflets for nearly two years before they are caught. After serving time in prison, Franka returns to Munich but finds that she cannot bear the city after Hans was executed there.

Throughout her flashbacks, Franka also notes that Munich is the city where Hitler first rose to power and that it remained a city that was very close to his heart because of its continued loyalty to him.
