Summary

In Chapter 10, Franka's head spins with all this new information. She feels very vindicated that her suspicions about Werner/John were right - he is an American spy. John and Franka argue about the war and casualties, a conversation that is especially fraught because an Allied bombing campaign killed her father not too long ago. John reveals that his mission is to get a scientist out of the country named Robert Hahn, who can help in building an atomic bomb. Franka is a bit incredulous because John's plan has not panned out at all and now that he broke both his legs, John cannot complete his mission. He asks Franka to go meet Hahn in his place and catch him up to speed in two weeks. Hahn waits on a bench in the park every Monday for a few minutes, reading a newspaper...
