On a very cold, clear, windy day, Alexandra is trying to convince Steph to come with her. Alexandra is leading Steph out to the Point, to throw a friend a lifeline, she says, and Steph is the friend. They are, as eighth graders, in their biological prime. Alexandra has had a boyfriend now for almost four weeks, while Steph remains single.
