An audiocassette entitled "Where I'm Calling From" includes a reading of this story and four others written by Carver. It was produced for Random House in 1989. All the stones are read by actor Peter Riegert

The 1993 feature film Short Cuts, directed by Robert Altman and released by New Line Cinema, was based on several of Raymond Carver's stones. Although "Where I'm Calling From" is not specifically included, the film does manage to convey much of the tone and many of the themes found in that story and in all of Carver's work.
