Chapter 36 Summary
The small hospital chapel is not big enough to contain this wedding. Seven children are in the front pew. The hospital chaplain is at the end of the aisle with the groom, Leon Yoder. The door opens to reveal Lexie, who is carrying a corsage of seven white roses, which represent her five children, and Leon's two. They are at the front of the chapel. Novalee takes pictures of Lexie who smiles at Leon, her future husband. Lexie and Leon met when Lexie went back to work at the hospital. Leon is a registered nurse specializing in pediatrics. Thinking of Roger Briscoe, Lexie turned him down when he asked for a date. A few weeks later, Lexie decided to go out with him, and they went fishing with their kids. Novalee asked if she liked him.
