Chapter 33 Summary

Novalee wants Lexie to get "skinny clothes" since she lost sixty pounds with her mouth wired shut. Lexie does not care about food or clothes. She has bought a game for the children who are playing it in the car, except Brummett. He has just come home from a camp for troubled boys. Since Roger Briscoe, he has been in trouble for shoplifting and has been becoming angrier. Pauline has bad dreams and is afraid of men. The psychologist said she needs a good male role model, which depressed Lexie for weeks. Novalee shows her elephant earrings and points out their trunks.
