Chapter 31 Summary
Novalee is a student at a photography seminar on printing techniques, which lasts four Saturdays at Northeastern State University. The professor greets them and says she is Jean Putnam. Dr. Putnam introduces the course and uses technical terms, some Novalee knows, some she does not. Dr. Putnam says their bus should be there so they should leave. Novalee hears they are going to an outdoor lab, but she does not know what that means. She remembers a conversation with Moses. She said she was worried about going to the class, but he said she can learn what he cannot teach. He says she knows what cannot be taught, and that is taking pictures with her heart. The bus parks close to the river. Dr. Putnam says they can take pictures. She says the most important part of a picture is in the darkroom, and they will be going there next....
