Chapters 57 and 58 Summary

In Chapter 57, Amy is in the kitchen with Larry, who is writing a check. Janice and Ellen are upstairs talking about sex. Gilbert finds Arnie threading a sheet through the trampoline springs. Arnie tells Gilbert he's building a rocket ship to find Albert, which is their father. Gilbert tells Arnie their father really missed out. The Grape children clean up from the party and hang out together, getting along for the first time ever. Larry doesn't rush off when the day ends, Gilbert pays Janice a compliment and Gilbert and Amy play around like when they were kids.
