Chapters 7 and 8 Summary

In Chapter 7, Gilbert drives to his best friend's house, Tucker. Tucker tells Gilbert they are building a Burger Barn in town. Gilbert and Tucker drink some beer and then Gilbert tells Tucker about the floor and that his Momma needs Tucker's help tonight. Tucker goes to the house with Gilbert. They go downstairs to the basement and see that the floor looks even worse from this viewpoint. Tucker says he'll help Gilbert fix it, but suggests they ask Mrs. Grape to move to another part of the house while they do it. Gilbert says she won't move and then they leave the house.

In Chapter 8, Gilbert drops Tucker off at his house so Tucker can start working on the plans to fix the floor. Then, Gilbert drives to pick up his sister Ellen from work. When Gilbert arrives at the Dairy...
