Chapters 32 and 33 Summary

In Chapter 32, the family finally has a chance to fight out in private what has surfaced during the inquest. Beverly tries to pass off her activities with Peter by saying that he had made a pass at her. Grandma Glad continues to try to pick a fight with Beverly until Joe throws her out of the room. Once she is gone, Joe tells them that once they get home, they are never to say Peter's name again. He leaves, slamming the door behind him. Beverly tells Evie they will charge her with accessory with murder and will hang Joe. She asks Evie what she has done. She tries to get Evie to recite their phrase with her but Evie will not do it.
