Part II (1842 - 1849): Chapters 12 - 15 Summary

Part Two opens on the night that Drayle first visits Lizzie on the plantation. He came on a terribly hot night to where Lizzie was sleeping in the kitchen and brought her a glass of cold water. The first night he arrived, Lizzie worried that he was setting her up in some kind of trap, but he insisted that he wouldn't leave until she drank every last drop of the water he brought. He came every night, each night inching closer and closer to where she lay on the floor.
