Summary

In Chapter 24, Marin finds that Mabel is again missing from Hannah’s bed. Marin worries that she has already left but finds Mabel’s duffel bag still sitting on the floor. Marin gathers the gifts for Mabel and her parents. Marin changes her clothing and brushes her hair. Mabel arrives in the doorway. They greet each other before Marin goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Back in the dorm room, Marin finds Mabel before she closes her suitcase. Marin hands her friend the vase and then instructs her to close her eyes. Marin then presents Mabel with the bell. Mabel thanks Marin, commenting on the bell’s beauty. Marin then walks Mabel downstairs. Before getting in the waiting cab, Mabel asks if Marin is sure that she does not want to come with her back to California. Marin once again rejects...
