Summary

Chapter 26

Gloria encourages Eileen to talk to Ed and to act immediately. The house is under market and won’t last long. Eileen drives to the house to take it all in again. The patio door easily slides open and she steps inside. She goes upstairs and passes by the bedroom that would be Connell’s room. She leans against the wall in the master bedroom staring out the window. Suddenly, she hears voices and looks for a place to hide. She fears she’ll be caught and that the cops would be called in.

After listening closely, she realizes that a couple is looking at the house with another agent. Eileen continues to try to devise a way out without being noticed. Finally, she makes herself known and without apology asks the agent to let her out the front door so she...
