Summary

Before Chapter XIII starts, Chee includes two maps. On page 260, she includes a black and white map of Italy detailing the 442nd Regimental Combat Team’s movements through the country. On page 261, she includes a map of their movements in eastern France. Chapter XIII “Company of Kings” is told from Twitchy’s perspective, age 19, June - October 1944. Twitchy’s chapter is broken into sections with the country, town, (both bolded) and date all three capitalized; the first starting “ITALY; NAPLES; JUNE 2” (262).

Twitchy starts by saying it is the first time he has been to a new country and though the scene is total warfare with sunken ships and shrapnel, he is excited.
