Devon

Devon, England, is the home of Joey, Albert, and Albert’s family in the novel. Devon is a rural area composed primarily of rolling hills, farms, and small villages. It is a beautiful and peaceful place that Joey enjoys growing up in alongside Albert. When Joey is sold to Captain Nicholls, he must leave Devon behind, and longs to return home each day he is away.
