Sirkit and Eitan operate their illegal hospital from the abandoned garage located just outside of Tlalim. Eitan first visits the garage the day after his hit-and-run when Sirkit demands that he return every night to treat illegal immigrants in retribution for killing Asum. Much of the novel’s major action occurs in the garage, including Mona’s death, the birth of Semar’s baby, Davidson’s stabbing, and Sirkit and Eitan’s final confrontation with Sayyid’s men.
