Chapters 31 - 40. Summary

In Chapter 31, Addie's walk home from her old school is a cold one. She tries to run as much as she can to stay warm, it is twenty-two degrees outside and she doesn't have boots on. Halfway home she has an unexpected meet-up with Grandio who sees her as he is driving by. He picks her up and they have Saturday lunch at his favorite hamburger place; it is a place they used to go to every week when Dwight and Mommers were still married. After lunch Grandio drops her off and gives her twenty dollars just to spend on herself. Addie is excited and wants to spend it before her mother can borrow it and not give it back.
