Chapters 21 - 30. Summary

In Chapter 21, Addie's mother doesn't have a problem with Addie going to Grandio's and then on to Dwight's place for Thanksgiving. She tells Addie that she won't go to Grandio's and that she will make other plans for herself. She also tells Addie not to get on the wrong bus coming home because she doesn't want to have to go looking for her. Addie is thrilled when her mother drops her off in the driveway of Grandio's farmhouse with her flute and a paper bag for a suitcase. The place reminds Addie of better times when her family was normal. She remembers Dwight helping Grandio on the farm and Grandio saying having Dwight was like having a son again. Grandio calls for Addie to come in the house and she is surprised to find a huge Thanksgiving feast prepared. A few...
