Chapter Two Summary

Stephanie tries to make the best of the situation with Diesel and her family. Diesel is told to go into the living room and watch TV with Frank while the women bake cookies. Diesel admires the scrawny Christmas tree and strikes up a conversation with Stephanie's nieces, Angie, 9, and Mary Alice, a 7 year old who thinks she's a horse.

Conversation in the kitchen revolves around Diesel and Grandma Mazur's plans to attend a viewing at Stiva's Funeral Home. Stiva's is the social gathering place of widows and seniors in the 'Burg. Grandma Mazur reveals that she met a real studmuffin at the last viewing and was hoping to hook up with him again. Stephanie tries to block out the details spoken out loud by Grandma Mazur and decides that it's time to.....
