The Lovers of Belle de Mai Summary

This chapter begins with the letter from Tina Lambardi written to Mathilde. She wrote the letter as she was waiting for the guards to take her to the guillotine. She tells Mathilde that she was caught after she killed Lavrouye, who had lied about the men's pardon. She killed Lovrouye and the other officers in order to avenge Nino's death, and she does not regret her actions. Nino was the only man she ever loved, and besides her godmother, the only person who ever cared for her.
