Time goes by, and Lestat does not know how many days he has been underground. He hears a strange beating sound from above. The deafening sound grows closer to him. Lestat feels as though it is calling to him, but he is too weak to get up. The power behind it draws him up and out of the earth. He discovers that it is another vampire. To Lestat's surprise, it is Marius who comes for him and lets him feed on his blood to strengthen him.
