Part 4, Chapter 4 Summary

When Lestat wakes up the next night, he hears Nicki's cries. He goes to him and faces the anger and accusations. Lestat knows he should send Nicki away somewhere and get him out of Paris. Lestat's heart breaks when he listens to Nicki carry on with his rant about how Lestat kept the secret and power from him. Lestat gives him the opportunity to flee with his life but he does not take it. Eventually Lestat gives in and makes him a vampire as well. After his transformation, Nicki refuses to speak to anyone. Gabrielle knows from the beginning that it is a mistake. Lestat sees it as well when he realizes that he can no longer stand the sight of him.
