Summary

In Chapter 1, Valencia was a 34-year-old woman who would fixate about the ways she could die at any given moment. She worked at the West Park Services Call Center, where she was a debt collector. She thought that this was the place where she was most likely going to die. In Chapter 2, Mrs. Valentine was an 87-year-old woman who thought about death often. She spent time with her best friend Mrs. Davies. Both of their husbands had died, but they had decided to call each other by their last names in order to still feel as though they were married. Mrs. Valentine occasionally accrues credit card debt and enjoys speaking with the debt collectors. She had created a schedule for herself to remind her to do her routine, like taking naps at a certain time. She hired a girl to do her housekeeping...
