Summary

Uncommon Type opens with “Three Exhausting Weeks” in which a group of four friends including the unnamed male narrator, Anna, MDash, and Steve Wong is presented. This story focuses on the narrator entering into a relationship with go-getter Anna who for three weeks makes him run, do yoga, learn to scuba dive, and get acupuncture, among other activities. MDash and Steve Wong warn their friend that the relationship will not succeed, but the narrator disregards their advice, assuring them that if anything goes wrong, the two will act like adults and their friendship will not be ruined.
