Summary

Chapter 15 is told from Ellery’s perspective on September 29th. Ellery and Ezra are looking at their mother’s Homecoming photographs when Officer Rodriguez arrives to check on Ellery, and then tells her, Ezra, and their grandmother that Brooke did not come home last night. Ellery and Ezra tell Officer Rodriguez that Malcolm took Brooke home after he dropped them off.

Chapter 16 is told from Malcolm’s perspective on September 29th. When he comes downstairs, he finds Officer McNulty questioning Katrin about Brooke’s whereabouts. Malcolm realizes that Brooke never came home last night. Malcolm remembers when Officer McNulty questioned Declan, who said that he was out driving by himself when Lacey was murdered.

Chapter 17 is told from Ellery’s perspective on September 29th. Officer Rodriguez questions her about the last time she saw Brooke, and she tells him everything she can remember...
