Summary

Chapter 9 – Caitlin wakes up, chained to a wall in a dungeon cell. Kyle enters the cell. He explains he is the deputy leader of the Blacktide Coven. Caitlin says she does not belong to any coven, which makes Kyle suspect she is a lead rogue vampire, testing territory for a shift in control of territory. Kyle explains that Blacktide is the oldest and strongest coven in the land. He questions Caitlin about when her coven intends to invade. Caitlin begins to recall parts of the night before, and explains that anything she did, she did on her own. She says she is sorry. Kyle thinks she is mocking him, so he orders her brought before the Assembly. She is brought before hundreds of vampires, as well as their leader, who seems to be more than ten thousand years old.
