Chapter 12, 'It Won't Work, Rod' and Chapter 13, Unkillable Summary

In chapter 12, Rod and Roy discover that more houses have been built and the rock wall has been replaced with a thornbush barricade. Rod is dismayed by this, but feels as though it does not matter since they are leaving soon. However, Grant refuses to entertain the idea of leaving all they have accomplished to move to the caves. When Rod suggests to Caroline that they go alone with the original group, she tells him of Carmen's condition and says they cannot move now.

In chapter 13, Rod continues to argue for the move when a strange migration begins propelled by a rabbit-like animal the colonist have begun calling Dopey Joe. This animal never before showed any sort of aggression, but suddenly it begins chasing other animals and attacking everything...
