Parcel 5, "His Early Contact with Senior Policemen" Summary

Parcel 5 is by far and away the shortest chapter to date. It starts out with Ned riding home to turn himself in so the Lloyds won't take the fall. His mother calls him a fool and says they would not do the same for him if the situation were reversed. Nonetheless, he has made up his mind, and when she realizes he won't change it, the family brings out the good table cloth and candles, and they eat everything Ellen had baked, assuming he would flee for his life. This is the first time Ned meets his new sister Ellen Kelly, named after the mother, Bill Frost's daughter. The mother gives Ned his sash from when he saved Dick Shelton from drowning and wears it for.....
