Summary

The next chapter is titled “What the Cat Dragged In.” Toby wakes June and Angela early the next morning. Angela orders June to send him away, but June refuses. She urges Toby inside out of the rain but is then horrified that he is dripping on the floor. At her insistence, he removes his boots, then his dripping socks. He promises to clean it up, but June says it is not that easy because then a towel will be dirty. Toby does not fully understand but grasps the situation enough that he cleans the floor and throws the towel outside so Angela will not know it got dirty. Toby has coffee for Angela and donuts for them both, but Angela becomes frantic when Toby starts upstairs. June promises to take the donut and coffee to Angela after Toby...
