Dinétah

The entirety of the novel is set in Dinétah, populated by the Diné or Navajo people. Dinétah is separated from the rest of what used to be the United States by a 50 ft wall constructed by the immortal beings. The wall was constructed after the Energy Wars out of fear of being attacked due to the violence that was occurring. As such Dinétah is isolated from the rest of the world and only has access to their one radio station.

Tse Bonito

Tse Bonito is where Tah lives. Maggie dislikes this town and only goes to visit Tah. Here she meets Tah’s grandson Kai and she agrees to take him with her on her mission to find out more about the monster she fought.
