Chapter 5 Summary and Analysis

Robyn manages to track down and catch her camels in the desert and bring them home. While she is tracking them, she gets completely turned around, which frightens her, as she realizes how bad her sense of direction is. She is plagued with worries now, wondering where she will find the money to pay for the trip and how she can design packs for the camels and what is her true motivation for going on the trip. Robyn meets Rick, a photojournalist, who suggests that she apply to "National Geographic" magazine for sponsorship. Robyn does and is elated when they agree to sponsor her trip, but then she is disappointed about having sold out, so that the trip is no longer her own.
