Summary

In Chapter 43, Chaol rode a temperamental horse to the Aksara Oasis alongside Yrene, Hasar, Kashin, and Arghun for Yrene’s birthday party. He raced Yrene on her horse and felt happy. In Chapter 44, they arrived at the oasis. Yrene checked Chaol’s legs after riding so long. They walked around the oasis together. Chaol told her about how the former King of Adarlan had tortured and killed the guards Chaol had trained to punish him from leaving his position. They discovered that the oasis was a Fae burial site. They rejoined the party. Hasar suggested that if Aelin married one of her brothers they might consider becoming allies in the war. Chaol insisted that Aelin was already in love with Rowan Whitethorn, a Fae prince who had been bloodsworn to Queen Maeve of the Fae. Then Hasar proposed that Chaol could give Yrene...
