Chapter 27 Summary

As Detective Al Garcia sits in his office thinking about the recent events, his door opens and it is Jesus Bernal with a sawed-off shotgun aimed at him. He tells Garcia that the two of them are going for a ride. Bernal feels that he must make a statement that will get attention of the other Cuban terrorists if he is to rescue his reputation. He has decided that the murder of Garcia is the best way to show his expertise at his chosen trade.

As they go on a very long drive, he and Garcia talk in Spanish, and Garcia decides the best way to handle the situation is to make Bernal as mad as possible, so he begins to belittle his effect as a small-time terrorist. Bernal has the shotgun pointed directly.....
