Chapter 16 Summary

Kara Lynn Shivers is introduced as the winner of the Orange Bowl Beauty Pageant, and the author makes fun of her interview with the mayor, comparing her to a dumb blond who wants to save world children from hunger.

While Wiley, Tigertail, and Viceroy are in Nassau, Bernal blows up several more people and some greyhounds at the track with bombs. One of the people he hopes to blow up is detective Harold Keefe, but the bomb that is planted in his car only blows off his toes. He secretly hopes these acts will get him invited back to the First Weekend in July group of Cuban terrorists. Wiley orders more killings, and a number of tourists of various backgrounds disappear.
