Ellie is the girl who, along with Corrie, comes up with the idea for the camping trip. Ellie is a natural leader and tries to reconcile being the leader with being "bossy," as some accuse. Ellie is determined to find a way into the area known as "Hell" and is grateful when another member of the group supports that when it seems impossible. As it turns out, this is a very positive move because the group ends up setting up a long-term camp in the area when the country is invaded and all the local residents are taken prisoner.
