Chapters 12 through 16 Summary

In chapter twelve, they arrive safely at Ellie's house and she discovers that there have been looters - that some possessions are missing. While she says she feels sick about it, she also admits that she hasn't yet had time to allow the full weight of the situation to impact her. They notice that the things on their list are also missing, indicating that the other group has been to the house and packed up everything they could. There's a note on the refrigerator that says, "Gone where the bad people go. See you there!" Ellie finds the Land Rover, packed and hidden as agreed.
