Chapter 6 Summary

Jem, Dill and Scout decide to walk around the neighborhood that evening. As usual, the plans turn to the Radley house. They decide to peek in the windows, so Jem and Scout lift Dill to look through the window. It doesn't work and Jem climbs onto the porch. Dill and Scout see the shadow of a man walking toward Jem. The man lifts a shotgun and shoots into the air. After the shot, the children race across the backyard and crawl under the fence.

Jem gets stuck and his pants are caught on the fence. He wiggles and eventually gets free, only after slivering out of his pants. The shot rouses the neighborhood, Atticus finds the children and asks what they were doing. Dill jumps in and says that were playing strip poker. Scout.....
