Summary

The point of view switches to Joe as he contemplates his past with Eleanor. The two met while Joe was two years into his residency at Southside Hospital on Long Island. Eleanor came into the ER with her sister and her right arm in a bed sheet. Joe noticed that Ivy was beautiful, but from the beginning focused his attention on the older sister. She had fallen from a deck at a house party and was worried about being able to work at her new animation job. Both sisters were distracted and amused by his t-shirt, a blue clown on a yellow background with the word “Meyer Mania.”
