Summary

Eleanor has prepared for the moment when she tells Timby that she does not have a sister and says that The Flood Girls is “an artistic experiment” (76). Spencer, confused, says he thought he had met Eleanor's sister before. In the narration, Eleanor clarifies that Ivy is her sister and that The Flood Girls was drawn as a present for her. Both Dan Clowes and Joyce Primm advocated for Eleanor to expand The Flood Girls into a full graphic novel. At first Eleanor resisted, but was charmed by Joyce into accepting a book deal.

Timby offers Spencer a ride to the sculpture park with a stop to pick up the dog for its midday walk. At their home, Eleanor becomes even more anxious and goes to Joe’s office to be alone. She reflects on her memories of Ivy as a beautiful young woman...
